I am trying to disable the internal wifi on the raspberry Pi zero w and use the EDImax Hi gain antenna dongle that I purchased with the PXFmini from Erle. I am doing this to use the 5GHz band to avoid the 2.4 GHz that the RC receiver is using.
I followed the blacklist instructions to disable the internal wifi and use the EDImax Hi-gain antenna dongle. It does seem to disable the internal wifi, but the hotspot does not seem to be created as seen from my PC and no flashing blue light on the EDImax antenna dongle. I just restarted with a fresh Erle PXFmini for Rpi 0 w image. I have not installed anything else, not even the ardu copter software. I have only added the blacklist file from above.
The output from ifconfig is

The output from iwconfig is (removed angle brackets around Nickname so it would display correctly).
